Respect 4 Films is a new exciting partnership between Jonathan 2 Productions and Respect Films. Together, the two companies have merged to create a production powerhouse that focuses on producing pop culture documentaries and feature films.
Veteran producers Jonathan McHugh and Jonathan Platt have produced more than 30 films, TV and internet shows, DVD Concert events. Some of their work includes the new Janis Joplin Film “Janis: Little Girl Blue (with Academy Award winning producer Alex Gibney and Academy Award winning director Amy Berg) and “We Are X" (featuring 2 time Academy Award winner, John Battsek), which won Best Editing in World Dramatic Documentary competition at Sundance 2016. The duo are also responsible for the Paramount Film “Crossroads’, The Lionsgate Film “Repo: The Genetic Opera,” “Justin Beiber’s Never Say Never (2nd Highest Music Documentary), "The Ramones RAW,” "Chicago in Chicago" DVD, MLB.com Presents Japan Confidential, World Baseball Classic DVD. Lionsgate’s “Hood of Horror” created and conceived by McHugh, and many, many more.
In 2011,Jordan and patrick premiered their second documentary feature, Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts. The film explores the mind of comic book writer and futurist Warren Ellis. It includes interviews with Helen Mirren, Joss Whedon, Patton Oswalt and many more. The film premiered at the Napa Valley Film Festival, and played numerous other festivals before a DVD release through Halo 8 in Summer 2012.In 2012, Respect completed an original short film, The Viral Man, starring acclaimed actress Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter). The next year saw the completion of two new documentaries: Comics in Focus: Chris Claremont’s X-Men and The Image Revolution. The Image Revolution was picked up for distribution by Shout Factory and released in January 2016.In 2014, the team completed She Makes Comics, with Marisa Stotter. The film won the Best Documentary award at the Comic-Con International Film Festival in 2015, and received widespread critical praise.Currently, the team is working on three major projects: a documentary on iconic fantasy author Neil Gaiman, a documentary on the world of Cosplay and Trip House, a horror feature, with much more still to come.
